School district has two newly published authors

The Poplar Bluff Public Library hosted its first Local Author Fair—featuring two recently published authors from the R-I school district—on Saturday, Oct. 4, during the Iron Horse Festival.

Communication arts teacher Rachel Stiber of Poplar Bluff Junior High School released “Elise’s Choice” via Creative Prose Publishing based in Utah on Aug. 25. “Elise’s Choice” is a fantasy novel about a young lady who must make a choice that ends up affecting her life as well as the lives of everyone in her village, according to Stiber, who writes as a hobby.

Art teacher Charles Gearhart of O’Neal Elementary School released “Never Nurse a Grudge” via Rocking Horse Publishing in St. Louis on Sept. 23. “Never Nurse a Grudge” is about how fragile friendship really is, and how a purely innocent action or a thoughtless act can tear a rift in that tenuous bond, according to Gearhart, who has from an early age wanted to publish a book.  (Charles also did the map illustrations in Rachel’s book.)

Both books are available at Barnes & Noble as well as Amazon.com, among other places.

At the Iron Horse Festival

Had a Blast at the Iron Horse Festival.  Met some great authors and illustrators.  Several people of all ages stopped by and bought my book.  I don't think I have signed my name that many times in one day.  Thank you so much.  The Poplar Library crew was great and I donated a book to the library for all to read.

CALL FOR AUTHORS: The Poplar Bluff Municipal Library in Poplar Bluff, MO, will be hosting its first annual 'Local Author Fair' on Saturday, October 4th from 10 am until 2 pm in connection with the community wide Iron Horse Festival.

This event provides an opportunity to connect local writers with new readers and for library readers to discover a new great author and their next 'good read.'

Booths are being provided to authors at no costs and consists of one table and two chairs. Authors are welcomed and encouraged to bring and sell their books.
